Confidence Maneuver: Barometer
Barometer Mountain, which is located on Kodiak Island, Alaska, has a direct and significant relationship with the Kodiak Benny Benson State Airport (ADQ), the airfield shared by both public and military aircraft, including those from Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak.
The mountain's proximity to the airport is a critical factor for pilots. The main runway at ADQ ends literally at the foot of Barometer Mountain. This makes approaches and takeoffs particularly challenging, especially given Kodiak's notoriously dynamic and often severe weather conditions. Pilots must be keenly aware of the mountain's presence, as it poses a significant hazard, particularly in low visibility. The mountain has even been the site of a fatal plane crash. Only HC-130 Hercules pilots serving at Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak would know the intricacies of Confidence Maneuver: Barometer. The Command print is available on my website today!
